Parent Testimonials.

  • A Grateful Parent

From our child's first year with Cathi K making a nervous mom feel welcome to covid learning and the unwavering patience of Jenna and all the years and intermittent challenges and successes in-between, the staff at Montgomery have supported our family in ways we cannot put into words.  The staff provided loving support with grace in challenging times and celebrated triumphs with joy.  We will always be thankful for the large part Montgomery Academy played in both educating and helping provide a place of refuge, consistency, and joy in a challenging world.  The staff were always easy to communicate with and always in a positive way: teachers, case managers, and the principal, which was so important to us while caring for our child.

Our child loved school and looked forward to learning. They especially loved the hands on learning with Sally and John K,  amazingly thought out art classes that encouraged them to explore their passions with Debborah, and cooking classes that were both fun and life-skilled based with John K!

We loved that there was a basketball team.  Our child was so excited when they turned 12 and joined the team!  And they had cheerleaders, too, which was so fun!  Classmates attended home games, adding to the excitement! It was a special time for us as family to watch the team play!

The variety of after-school extracurricular activities were fun and was another way our child felt they were able to participate in school activities, just like their siblings at their home district.

The extended school year allowed our child to go weekly to the lake and on weekly outings, all things they were unable to participate in since they couldn't attend traditional summer camp. But Montgomery Academy brought summer camp and social- emotional learning to their students, so they could fully participate!

Everything Montgomery Academy does is with dignity, love and respect.  They have offered our child not only an education that met them where they were at to allow for their emotional and academic success, but allowed them to feel involved in school, just like their siblings are involved at their schools, so they didn't miss out by being at an out-of-district placement.

Thank you to the amazing people who make Montgomery Academy the school that welcomed our child and family with open arms and hearts.  You will all hold a special place in our hearts.

  • Artie

Every school that we visited kind of painted the kids with the same brush. …Since being at Montgomery, when he is stick or doesn’t feel well, we have to force him to stay home…You gave me my child back, the one I knew 5 years ago.

  • Jenna

Just prior to coming here, we were at a place that was… hopeless, and we needed to know that we could keep going…he loves going on the interships. He can’t stop talking about what a good day he had there.
